Most of the learning having to do with Chicago was looking at the world's fair that went through Chicago. That being said I did learn a lot about Chicago as a whole. I learned a lot about what they invented, for instance the brownie, revolutionised popcorn, invented the ferris wheel, and many other advancements some minor and others that changed the world for ever. For instance in the 1920s there was a generally accepted LGBTQ community, and night life and bars made for that community. It was a sanctuary for most of the homosexuals who felt threatened in other cities at the time.
Before I had mentioned the ferris wheel, which was presented at the world's fair in the late 1800s. The ferris wheel was a feat of god, at the time that is. A structure that big, that actually moved! Oh my god. So we decided to take that and make it a reality. We decided to make a moving ferris wheel, out of wood. And after it was all said and done, it needed a lot of work, and it wasn't that stable, but by god it spun. So when I left that day I was very proud of what my group had accomplished.
That being said other countries has really compelling ideas and advancements. For instance Ireland had the submarine, which was one thing that I thought was just amazing! I would have really loved to delve into the history of Ireland, however that being said France, Germany, and Russia where all very compelling competition.
I feel proud of what was accomplished and what my group had to show. There was room for improvement, as there always is. But given the time frame of the project, the nature of the idea at hand, and the materials we had, I feel like we presented a very satisfactory product. Most of my group really pulled their weight and really made this happen. It was such a diverse group, meaning that we could make things happen that otherwise wouldn't have even been a possibility.
By and large I think this project and exhibition turned out better than I thought it would. On top of having other classes, might I add. We brought our A game and earned ourself a decent B. I am very proud of how this turned out, and I am glad I had the group that I did.
*MAKE NOTE* at this point I do not have photos, because my phone was replaced, meaning that all photos I had are now floating around in cyberspace preying on the unlucky and unwary. I mean imagine that, all of a sudden BAM a massive picture of a messy school project pops up. Wouldn't that scare you? Anyways I digress, that is why I don't have any photos.
